Elder

Part of nature's harvest

Elder is a common tree native to Britain and Europe, often found in shrub or bush form in hedgerows and woodland.

The tree flowers in late spring, producing elderflowers which are used to make a variety of homemade drinks and to flavour fruit desserts.

In late summer, the tree produces berries (elderberry), which are famously made into country wines and preserves, as well as reputedly having medicinal properties.
