Jägerschnitzel

Pork and mushroom dish found in Austria and Germany

Jägerschnitzel is a dish of pan-fried pork with a mushroom sauce, common across Austria and Germany (especially southern areas).

The name literally means Hunter's fillet (or chop), and unlike the Wiener Schnitzel more commonly known in the UK, the escalope of pork isn't breaded before being fried. It is served with a sauce made with mushrooms, onions, beef stock and cream.

Jägerschnitzel can also be written as Jaegerschnitzel, and is often also seen written by non-German speakers as Jagerschnitzel.
